Sept.6-10,2008 with O.Hinds

  1. Fri... I joined Michael S. at the local football field and watched Trumann trounce Rivercrest like 34-14. Zac Thompson(Rosie's grandson) ran 4 touchdowns! Called Wayne(he couldn't believe that we were 20 points ahead in the 1st quarter) He had his great-grandson, Eli, in his arms. I went over and talked with Rogers Ford, Supt. over at RC. He used to be a Worldbooker. I chatted with Bo H., he still has one grandson playing ball. Derrick came up with me and left after about 20 minutes or so. Mark, my 12 year old grandson, came up and sat with me for a while. I am glad I made the effort....
  2. Sat... We found out that Aldean Pipes had passed away. I have visited her for about 7 years over at Skilcare. Lois McCarty Hill(Radie's wife and Ricky/Randy's mother) was her sister. Woodrow McCarty, her brother, was her brother. William Green's wife, Jeanne, was her sister(Curt, Shelby, Sherry & Kenny's mother). Junior McCarty is the only one of that family still living. He lives across from the old fire station on West(Pine) St. ..
  3. Sunday... Visited Viv at about 6:15am and then walked with her to breakfast at St. Elizabeth Place in Jonesboro(she is in room 109). We sang "Send the Light," "When we all get to Heaven," and "If I could hear my mother....." 7:10 at Skilcare. I spoke with Waymon and Eula Mae Perkins, Gertie Mills Skaggs (Aunt Em's granddaughter). She was Dub and Nona Mills sister, the daughter of Teman and Lillian Mills(Larry Mills, our Poinsett Co. Sheriff's grandparents). 7:50am ... Craighead Nursing Home... Gene Brown, J.R. Isbell, Leona Ward, Lorene Sharp, Dorothy Conatser. I played "Name that tune" in the dining hall. 8:15... Stopped and visited Melvin & Opal Lee Brown at their home on Medallion. Then visited Ed Watson, Paul, Charley, Dacus', Marvin/Eugene/Jimmy & Theordore Smith. Class at 9:00am at SW Church of Christ. Mike Leatherwood taught the book of Amos. Travis Eades was the speaker. Sat next to Maxine. Maxine had forgotten her meter(sugar level type) and was going back home after services and I went to Dragon City on Main street and ordered the Shrimp(29) and Mongolian Chicken(33) with Noodles to the tune of $11.88. Home ... ate half my serving and then took a short nap ... up and to the Pecan Grove after picking up the produce... Some 50 or so cantalopes!!! Fed Oscar, Grumpy and Babi.... Visitation for Illa Dean Pipes. We met so many who had visited Ricky Hill's funeral (at Wynne,AR) back in the last part of August.
  4. Monday... 10:am... Illa Dean Pipes funeral... I spoke before Tad Rogers. Sang When we all get to Heaven, If I could hear my mother pray again, The Trial of Jesus." The song before me was, "Life is like a Mountain Railroad." I then played " Amazing Grace." Tad and I greeted the folks after they passed by Illa Dean.
  5. Tuesday... Harry V. and I worked on getting the top counter tops off, loaded and put in Quonset Hut.... Cut trees against the trailer and Quonset Hut at Trumann... tres cientos y media to one D.Webb. Jeremy, his helper, is married to Brook Arms and he brought his two daughters, over after picking them up in Jonesboro. They are named Ashley and Pretty Eyes...
  6. Wednesday... Got the other two base cabinets loaded from Harry/Elizabeth's home on Balcom... I think I will put them in the home at 103 Terra..
